when in Bangkok, stay at Tu's Place!

I first visited Tu in 1994 when his place was called the Bangkok Centre Guest House. In 1996 he came to the US and we went to see the Jerry Garcia Band together, which was the last time I saw Jerry play. Then in 1998, I sent him an around the world Breadstick via my friend Juergen in Berlin.

I hear he's still in business; here's a map:

From the southeast end of Khao San Road, walk south across Ratchadamnoen (the huge boulevard going toward the Democracy Monument). Then walk east on the alley that runs parallel and to the south of that boulevard. You'll see a Mercedes Benz dealership, and there's a small walkway across from the service entrance. Walk to its end, then turn right, then Tu's Place is behind a fence, second to last house on the left before the alley ends.

Or maybe ask someone where it is?
