Distances in the desert are longer than they look on the map. Or maybe I just slept in too late. Anyway, after 30 years in California, I'd never been to Death Valley before today. I think it must be different in the summer.
It was sunset when I reached Zabriske Point, trying to remember what that movie was about.
Ended up in Lone Pine, in a nice old hotel for the evening....
