Just past Jemez Springs we stopped by the side of the road at a place I'd visited five years ago. The book calls it Spence Hot Springs, about a ten minute hike across the creek and up the hill. Someone added a log bridge since the last time I was here.

At 6000', it has two main pools and several smaller ones scattered around the hillside. Winter views are even more spectacular than the summer ones. What can I say, this is one of my top favorite hot springs and it was great to be back.

After soaking in the springs, we drove on towards Santa Fe and visited Noel's friend Russ in the nearby hills of Tesuque. Had great blue corn enchiladas in the Village Restaurant where Russ works. Slipped and slid into Santa Fe for the night, where everything is covered in snow. That's good. We like snow.
