A month ago, I really wanted to go to a conference at Arcosanti. Click for details in detail.
But the universe did not allow it - bad head gasket and good pressing business. So everyone went and thought great thoughts, and I stayed home.
And today, I was contemplating taking a different route past Arcosanti, as it was getting late in the day. But I stopped anyway.
I'm partial to Utopias in the desert. Don't really care about the debate about practical or good or bad or silly.. Simply attempting this matters most. It's here and a growing reality, and people are here, making it more real, no matter if that takes a century. As a monument to dreams, I'm impressed.
All constructed with volunteer labor, no corporate logos anywhere. It has a natural feel to it. I certainly felt comfortable. So I took the tour.

This is the South Vault, one of the original structures dating back to the 1970's.

This is a view overlooking the lake. The guest rooms are just below.
